Over kunst en letters en hun plaats in mijn leven
It is not hard to make the comparison between the new art project of the 91 year old artist Ellsworth Kelly and the Rothko Chapel. Recently I was confronted with the geometrical paintings of the artist in the Fondation Lous Vuitton in Paris. Maybe it was the overwhelming presence of the architectural design of this museum that made the paintings look rather lost. This new work of the artist, the first stand-alone in his career, comprises a 2,715-square-foot stone building with coloured glass windows, a totemic wood sculpture and 14 black-and-white stone panels in marble.
